Horses are allowed on trails in many areas of national forests, national parks, and other federal and state public lands. The trail to Ski Lake is a great day ride - start from the Phillips Trailhead on Teton Pass. There are also lots of companies that offer horse-pack trips in the Tetons and surrounding areas. One of our favorites is Linn Outfitters-get in touch with them to ask about availability.
There are also many options for single day trail rides with a guide based out of a dude ranch. We recommend checking out Triangle X and the R Lazy S.
The Snake River Sporting Club has excellent an excellent equine facility south of town. Flying W Stables is outside of Wilson. You can also sign up for a time slot at the Heritage Arena: the public arena at the Teton County Fairgrounds.
